Suwa

Antigua Guatemala. Guatemala (proposed location)

The project seeks to approach astronomical observation from a more mystical, integral perspective — one that connects the observer with the surrounding cosmos. This is not a rejection of the scientific model; rather, that vision alone does not define the architectural project, but runs parallel to and alongside scientific rigor, as its dual counterpart.

Two fundamental factors conceptually characterize the project: the "Mayan cosmogony, or Mayan factor," and the "vilo" (the threshold, or edge). The Mayan factor is expressed through the duality between the immensity of the cosmos and the inner core of each being — the intrinsic relationship between the cycles of the universe and the crucial decisions of life — supported by an integral understanding of both mysteries. Each is a fundamental element of the other; together they form the unity that coordinates the whole. The vilo represents the moment in which we choose to step into the journey of knowing more — accessing knowledge of what surrounds us in order to move inward, toward the self.
